ABOUT

This blog describes my adventures in Africa. In 2018, this will be my 4th trip to Africa. I traveled to Rwanda in March 2016, and Kenya and Tanzania in the Spring, 2015, and Kenya in 2010. On our journey, we'll be visiting schools, centers for people with disabilities, making friends, looking for animals and finding adventure wherever we go. Wahoo!!!!

Fun Facts about Rwanda

Rwanda Flag

Hi, this is my first blog post of the year, and since I'm not in Africa yet  I'm just sharing some fun facts with you about Rwanda.

Rwanda has the highest representation of women in the government in the world!
Rwanda's population is 12.1 Million, that's about the same as the population of Ohio (where my dad is from).  It's the most densely populated country on the continent of Africa!

Rwanda's capital city is Kigali.
The people speak Kinyarwanda, French, and English.

Wildlife:  Rwanda is famous for having a third of the world's remaining endangered Mountain Gorillas.  Unfortunately you can't visit them until you're 15 years old, but I hope to see Leopards, Zebras, Gazelle, Lions, Hyenas, and Hippos in Akagera National Park.  Let's hope we don't get attacked by Baboons AGAIN!!!

"Murabeho!" that means goodbye in Kinyarwanda.

  2. Finn,
We are loving your blog. Thank you for sharing all the great adventures! We have a couple of questions. Have you seen meerkats or leopards? We are all writing reports on African Animals. Britt says to tell you that she misses you and mom a lot but she is having a great time with Dad! She loves you too! Mrs. Abernathy, Mrs. Bryce and Kids

    1. Hi Everyone! About the meerkats and the leopards, no, but we wanted to see them. The best time to see leopards is at night and we did 2 night safaris but didn't see them. They are shy, tell me if I'm wrong. Tell Brit we miss her too!
