You say "pobo" - it means "I'm cool."
Yesterday our flight was at 11pm and it landed at 2am. So I am very tired right now. But let me tell you about it here in Tanzania.
Our guide's name is Martin. (mar-ton). Today he took us to a wheelchair center and a Clubfoot center. I know you are wondering what Clubfoot is... Clubfoot is a condition you get from your genes (and your feet are turned inwards). For example, here is a picture of a woman with very bad untreated clubfoot.
Here is a picture of a baby getting treated for Clubfoot.
Here is the brace to help treat clubfoot
Here is the wheelchair center
Tomorrow we are going on safari. I will tell you about that tomorrow if I have internet.
By the way, Martin has an 8 month old baby named Violet. I told him about the other Violet and that she went to Tanzania also.
Kwaheri!!!!!!!!!
It is so good to see a picture of your mom, Finn! We've been wondering about where she had disappeared to!
ReplyDeleteHi Finn and Rachael! It's great to read these posts and see the photos! Wow, a giraffe with a long blue tongue--who likes noses. Camels! Elephants! With soccer balls! Sand dunes. I'm learning a lot as I read your blog, and I'm inspired by your mom's work. Enjoy the rest of your travels! We miss you.
ReplyDeleteLooking cool, Finn!! Thanks for sharing about the wheelchair and club foot center...it's nice to see kids getting help.
ReplyDeleteThe lady with the untreated clubfoot must have a very hard time getting around. Is it possible to help her feet get better, or is it too late for that? The baby is really lucky to have the brace, even though sometimes it might hurt or be a bother. Maybe when his feet are fixed he'll want to wear red shoes like the lady who is holding him. And maybe he'll learn to dance like so many of the people you're showing us.
ReplyDeleteYou and your Mom look like you're having a great trip!
Love, Grandpa and Grandma
